March of Dimes calls attention to maternal mortality rates

On May 12, mothers across the country will be celebrated.

The March of Dimes plans to mark Mother's Day while also highlighting a pressing issue: a new report released this past week by the Centers for Disease Control shows the number of women in the U.S. dying from pregnancy-related complications remains at a crisis level, particularly among women of color.

FOX 9's Leah Beno talked to families who are actively working to change these statistics for both professional and very personal reasons.
